Our house is situated just south of the ancient walls of York in the famous Bishy Road area. Ashley House is a beautiful property, believed to be an old 19th century toy shop, spanning four floors each oozing character and charm. Inspired by the house's history we have made places to hide, play games, make and imagine or simply relax and snuggle up with a book.
Our house has provided a warm welcome to guests for over 14 years, previously run as a B&B and recently updated and converted into an exceptional self-catering holiday.
We aim to offer our guests the experience they may be looking for now. A place that is safe and spotlessly clean, cosy and comforting and full of things to spend time staying home together.
We have a cinema with Netflix/Amazon, a snug, a super farmhouse kitchen to show off your chef cooking, or make afternoon tea with our complimentary' bake box'. We have a games room with plenty for the kids to do and for the musical ones in the family we have a piano and ukelele!
If it's a nice evening you can cook on the outdoor pizza oven (special homemade dough supplied!) and sup wine in the summer evening air. Later after a beautiful day, you can relax in the roll top bath on the top floor, pamper yourself with a Neal's Yard mini facial or play games in the snug enjoying a glass of wine or your favourite G&T!
For your extra reassurance at this time please see our Keeping You Safe page regarding the essential extra health and safety precautions that we are taking. Following government guidelines we only accept families from 2 households at the moment.
It's a minimum of 3 nights. During school holidays it may be 7 nights.
A lovely comfy stay in the Digs. Silky soft sheets, fluffy towels, fab shower and delicious food, and above all a lovely warm and friendly host and team.
